The Art Association of Jacksonville is poised to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its annual Beaux Arts Ball on Saturday, April 29. Titled “Pop Revolution: Revive the Movement,” the event serves as the primary fundraiser for the Art Association of Jacksonville with proceeds used to promote art appreciation and education for all ages at the David Strawn Art Gallery.

Patron and general tickets will be available at the JHS Bowl prior to the Beaux Arts Ball on April 29 where the coronation will begin at 7 p.m. – 45 minutes earlier than in prior years. The traditional reception for participants will be held immediately following the coronation at the David Strawn Art Gallery, with dancing until midnight at the Jacksonville Country Club. Patron tickets are $40 and include admission to the coronation, reception and dance, while general tickets are $10 and include the coronation and reception.

General co-chairs Kristin Van Aken Jamison and Sarah Van Aken chose pop art as their inspiration in planning this year’s event featuring 32 participants including kindergarten students, eighth-graders and seniors in high school whose parents or guardians are members of the Art Association. The co-chairs have incorporated music from the late 1950s and early 1960s, as well as specialized lighting during the coronation. The dance will include exciting pop art decor and live entertainment by the St. Louis band “Everyday People.”

Beaux Arts Ball attendees will have the opportunity to purchase chairs used on the coronation set via silent auction at the Jacksonville Country Club later that evening. Volunteer artists included Nancy Bartlett, Jess Brown, Karen Etherton, Dru Fernandes, Kyla Hurt, Kristin Van Aken Jamison, Toni Long, Gigi Patterson, Bridget Rahe, Jessica Freeman Richardson, Linda Van Aken and Sarah Van Aken. In addition, a special commissioned painting by local artists Dru Fernandes and Julie Grojean will be featured in a live auction conducted by Jess Spradlin.
